THE BOOK OF JAMES: THE RIGHTEOUS LIFE GOD DESIRES

James Chapter 05: Uncompromising Obedience
“If you love me, you will obey what I command.”
John 14:15-16“This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. “
1 John 5:3-5“So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.”
Acts 6:7
Certainly obedience is one of the key ingredients in Living the Righteous Life that God Desires. Obedience not only produces a righteousness, but it also displays our trust in God’s Word and our love for the Lord and for Jesus, our savior.
Isaiah 64:6 teaches us that “all our righteous acts are like filthy rags.” While the acts themselves cannot save us or make up for wrongs that we’ve done, the literally FEELS love from us as we trust in Him and His will, especially when we don’t FEEL like obeying.
As we close out our study of the Book of James my prayer is that you have been inspired to become more and more obedient to the Lord, showing Him your trust, your gratitude and your love for the sacrifices of Jesus! Let us go forth and Live the Righteous Life that God Desires for us to live!
